My BEFOREs & AFTERS

(1) Me, at 260 lbs in the year 2000, before I first lost 110 lbs.

(2) Me, on Day 1 of my HERBALIFE project !!

(3) Me, this last weekend, about to drink my Herbalife shake.. at the end of my Herbalife project !!

I just wanted to let all of you know that I have a special PASSION for those of us who want to lose weight and become more fit.  It’s in my blood, it’s in my heart, it’s my life and what I live for.  I’d never have guessed that going through the years of being so overweight would affect my mind and how I think …  and what I choose to do for pleasure and healthy living, so many years later.  But God knew.  And through all the hard moments I’ve been through in my past, He knew there was a plan for me, and that I needed to go through what I did, so that I would have a deep, deep understanding of what it was like to be obese, and even more an appreciation for a healthy body.  I love fitness, and the people who are in my world, whether they’re a gym rat like me or someone who’s shy and is just stepping their foot in the gym for their first time, mean SO MUCH to me !!!  They’re my friends, they’re who I exercise with, they’re who I relate to… and they’re very special to me.  I’ve become a Wellness Coach through Herbalife, so that I can share what I know through my years in fitness and my experience using the Herbalife products, with all of you.  I believe in what the products do !!!  I believe that they can melt off fat and they can build muscle.  Herbalife can make you stronger, more healthy.. and can make your life better.

Let me know if I can help you.

SKILLS ASSESSMENT —- Herbalife Trials-2012 (3/23/12 —-> 4/7/12)

EVENTS:

  • Straight-leg DEADLIFT…………………..165 lbs w 1 rep —> 195lbs w 1 rep
  • 40 yard DASH ………………………………6.96 sec —> 6.75 sec
  • 1/9 mile SPRINT (@XTC 1up,1dn)……..37.06 sec  —> 36.87 sec
  • 1 mile RUN (@XTC 9up,9dn)…………….8 min 24 sec —> tba
  • Endless Rope PULL(low tension) ………236 ft/min —>265 ft/min
  • Chest PRESS (touches chest)…………..100 lbs w 1 rep —> 110lbs w 1 rep
  • BURPEES in 2 min w jump/clap overhead …29 full —> 36 full

WOWzers !!  Look at these numbers on improvement !!  I came in Saturday morning while I was fresh and began my tests, during the Grand Opening at XTC !!  Shannon spotted me on the chest press (thank you, Shannon!) and I pushed myself as hard as I could (just like my first time around) and saw that I could do more.  Geez, was I excited !!!

My deadlift came next and after I warmed up on it, I began adding weight.  I made it to the first round’s weight 165 lbs and did it with no problem.  Then I added more weight in small increments.  Mind you, on my first round at the beginning of my trials, I was unable to lift the larger weight off the stand .. let alone do a deadlift with it.  This time, I did it, and added more.  And I did it again, and added more.  And when I finally found that place where I was done, I began adding in my head the weight on the bar to see how much was on there.  OMG — I’d thought I miscounted.  I recalculated again…. and I really couldn’t believe it !!  How could this be?  I’ve never dead-lifted this much weight in my life.

The endless rope was next and if you’ve ever pulled on one of these machines, ya know it’s a booger.  I sat back, let loose and began pulling as hard and quick as I could.  29 MORE FEET I pulled than before !!!  Maybe I can rescue somebody one day — or maybe rescue myself off something — who knows =D !!

Running was next on my agenda.  I’ve told ya before, running is NOT my forte.  I’m slow, but good at going up hills because of my quads.  I can run a long, long time if I get myself in that cardio “ahhh” zone.  You know what I’m talking about !!  But pushing myself to run as fast as I can is a whole other thing.  My heart rate takes off, and I try to keep it going there as long as I can before I know I have to slow down a little bit.  Either that, or I pace myself at first and pick up speed at the end.  Either way, it’s hard for me.  The 40-yard dash I only saw a tiny bit of improvement, but the dash is so short, any improvement is good !!  The 1/9 mile sprint is more fun for me.   It includes an uphill slope and a downhill slope, and I have to be on my guard to make sure I don’t slam into a wall as I take 2 corners on the downhill slope.  I saw another improvement — 36.87 from 37.06 seconds.

As I was beginning my 1 mile run, we had families touring our facility, including them walking on the track.  I didn’t want to be running full out around little kids, so I’ve decided to get a reading on this event next week.

Last but not least — BURPEES !!  EEEEEEK !!  Why do these always terrify me?  This is the only event I know that I can actually FEEL my heart PUMPING right out of my chest !!  I get myself set, say a prayer, and just start.  One minute in, I’m on count 21.  Really?  WOW — that’s good !!  This is crazy, I’m thinking.  And I dunno if I psyched myself out or what, but after that moment, burpees became VERY VERY HARD.  It’s almost like I went into s-l-o-w motion .. and not in a good way !!  When I was done, I finished at 36 burpees for 2 minutes .. an improvement of 7.  Still a good run and a definite improvement !!

Ok, so let’s talk about this …. improvements in ALL EVENTS !!!  So what’s changed to cause these improvements ??  Some may say ….

  • I workout all the time; yes, I’m a gym junkie; however, I’ve been working out like this for YEARS and YEARS cross-training through different classes , documented right here on my blog.
  • I’m eating a lot of protein — yes, but if you’ve been following me this last year or so, you know that I eat a LOT of protein all the time… I’m a big proponent of it.
  • I’m eating healthy.  Yes, but again, I’ve been eating pretty healthy (in moderation) on the long term… and continue.
  • I lift heavy weights.  Yes, I’ve been lifting weights for almost 10 years now.  Always trying to improve myself.  I’ve never seen results like this.
So what is the cause?   hmmmm… oh, yeah.  The only thing different is the Herbalife products I’ve been taking !!

“So far Herbalife, I’m seeing good results, documented right here on my blog, and I give you a THUMBS UP !!” —-Kelley♥

DAY 20

BODY STATS:

I’ve just now gone into UNEXPLORED TERRITORY !!!!!

What does that mean?  That means that although I’ve been at this weight many times before, I’ve never been at such a high muscle mass or as low of fat % in the HISTORY of my body !!!  These before and after pics are from DAY 1 of the Herbalife Trials … and DAY 20, just under a 3 week span.  Look at the difference already !!  I’m seeing parts of my abs that I’ve NEVER seen before.  I always could feel the muscle, the 6-pack lying below … but I never have been able to SEE what was under there !!  How does that make me feel ??  LIKE I’m on TOP of the WORLD — WooHOOO !!!

Here’s my STATS:

Today’s body measurements: (3/19/12 .. 3/24/12 .. 3/31/12 .. 4/7/12)

Weight: 157.0 —>  156.6 —> 153.4 —>152.6

Body Fat%: 21.7% —> 20.5% —> 20.0% —>18.7%

Muscle Mass: 116.6 —> 118.2 —> 116.4 —>117.8

Biceps: 13.0” —> same —> same —>12.75”

Chest:  39” —> same —> 38” —>38.5”

Waist:  31.5” —> 31.0” —> 30.5” —>30.0”

Hips: 37.5” —> 37.25 —> same —>same

Thighs: 22.5” —> same —> 22.0” —>same

Calves: 16.2” —> 16.5 —> 16.0” —>same

My BODY FAT % has never been under 20.0% and now it’s down to 18.7%, and my muscle mass again went up !!

DAY 13

SATURDAY is Weigh-IN DAY for me !!!

BIGGEST NEWS of the DAY — I lost 3 lbs this week and my bodyfat % is down to 20.0% bodyfat —- the lowest in my history .. like … EVER.  Totally worth my drive to Whitehouse to THE FEEL GOOD PLACE, where I felt GOOD !!

Here are today’s body measurements: (3/19/12 .. 3/24/12 .. 3/31/12)

Weight:  157.0 —>  156.6 —> 153.4

Body Fat%: 21.7% —> 20.5% —> 20.0%

Muscle Mass: 116.6 —> 118.2 —> 116.4

Biceps: 13.0” —> same —> same

Chest:  39” —> same —> 38”

Waist:  31.5” —> 31.0” —> 30.5”

Hips: 37.5” —> 37.25 —> same

Thighs: 22.5” —> same —> 22.0”

Calves:  16.2” —> 16.5 —> 16.0”

I’m really excited about these numbers !!!  I see my waist chiseling away.  My legs are beginning to look cut.  My arms and shoulders already are looking pretty good.  But the one thing I’m not happy about — and my reason for this stress —- is that my MUSCLE MASS went down 2 lbs, which had been up from last week.  Fluke?  Maybe.  Maybe not.

David asked to make sure I was getting enough protein daily —- and I eat a minimal of 116 grams of protein every day, usually more … so yes.  The only other thing I see is that this week in particular, I only lifted weights twice (remember my shopping trip yesterday?) —- both endurance-based workouts rather than strength lifting heavy weights.  (That would be the reason I was so gung-ho to get to my heavy weights today !!)  Could it have been a factor?  Maybe.  We’ll see what happens next week.  I’m not stressing anymore — I’m celebrating.  I like to see that my fat% is at an all-time LOW !!  I think the addition of using the ZONE Diet for my choices on “food meals” is a winner.

Remember, if you need some help, would like to use the scales, or talk to a Wellness Coach, visit my sponsors at the Feel Good Place at the Whitehouse location http://kelleykelleymoore.tumblr.com/tagged/kkmsponsors or visit their website http://www.goherbalife.com/mcgodinez !!
