Exper #1 - Drink More Water!

January 5, 2011 - January 31, 2011

(most recent post will be first… go to the bottom to begin with DAY 1)

—————————————————————————————

DAY 28:  the LAST DAY

Experiment #1 ends…. “Water”

80 oz of water at home

My experiment ends.. but my water continues !!  My findings?  I’ve had an extra busy day today and am exhausted right now, but tomorrow I’ll get on the ball and create a sidebar which will contain all the “water” posts in time order.  Basically, though, I think I found myself dehydrated and the water replinished what my body needed.  I found 4 lb upswings and downswings of weight gain/loss, repeatedly, throughout the month.  What were the causes?  Well, it could be that I just needed water.  It could be that I was ill and/or injured and my body was hanging onto the water to heal itself.  At least one swing was caused by bloating during my time of the month.  For whatever reason, I’m pretty sure that I just wasn’t getting enough water outside of the gym, and because my choice of drink —- besides water —- was usually Diet Dr. Pepper, I found myself dehyrdrated.  My skin’s elasticity improved, especially on the face and hands.  And from what I can tell, my energy level did not change.  I did notice an improvement on keeping myself warm in COLD weather situations.. helping narrow the incident of Raynaud’s.  Also by drinking room temperature water, I was able to drink more water, have less “cold-freeze headaches” and feel more comfortable as I drank water (naturally very cold-natured).  By pouring my water from a measured jug into a glass, I felt less overwhelmed about how much water was still needed to drink.

Overall, water made me feel better.  I’ve grown to enjoy the taste of water, especially outside of the gym.  It’s saved me money to not order soft drinks/tea at restaurants.  And it’s something that I’ll continue on in my diet, because it just makes sense to me.

How about you?  I think it’s time for a nice glass of WATER !!

————————————————————————————————————————-

DAY 27

Water is done

28 oz of water drank at the gym, 3 workouts and 73 oz of water at home

————————————————————————————————————————-DAY 26

water report….

Today I stepped it up at the gym a bit, as I was trying to raise my average heart rate for the duration of each class; thus, I drank a bit more water…. 40oz of water at the gym, 73 oz of water at home

I also became self-aware that I was getting an ICEE freeze headache when I drank the refrigerator cold water…. so I dumped my jug, refilled, and kept it at room temperature.  Amazing the difference for me!!  I can drink so much more, so much faster.  And since I’m so COLD natured around the house, it’s nice not to walk away shivering after I drink my water!!

And I’ve found a cause for my extra water gain this week =/  … which would also explain my whole “privacy” issue —- closing the blinds revolt I posted yesterday.  It sucks to be so typically PMS, but dangit it fits me to a T !! rrrrr

————————————————————————————————————————-DAY 25

So who forgets to drink water ??  ME !!

For lunch I had a DDP, then after I came home, I got to cleaning the house, and a little housekeeping with my pic files, which took a while.  I didn’t realize I hadn’t had any water since I’d gotten home until it was time for dinner, so that’s when I got started.  Uhhhh !!!  So I’ve been guzzling this last hour, but I made it !!

73oz of water at home, 20 oz at the gym for 3 workouts

————————————————————————————-

DAY 24

water all done

73 oz of water at home… 20 oz of water at the gym, 2 classes

I’m on a ROLLERCOASTER RIDE !!  wheeeeee !!  147 - 152 - 147 - 152  … and the fat percentage isn’t going anywhere… hmmmmm  … “water weight”  It’s amazing that my body can take this… but really, my body is taking care of itself…. I just don’t know what it’s taking care of, for sure

It’s weird that my measurements aren’t showing this weight… I guess I’m just gathering weight in places I don’t measure, like my face, hands, feet, etc.

————————————————————————————————————————-DAY 23

Usually I’m a-ok with sharing my life….

this week, I’m not feelin good, and wish I could close the blinds for a couple of days…. just yearning for a little privacy.  O well, I’ll get over it.  And I’ve just realized that this month of “WATER” is almost over.  I’ve learned that I need to have more WATER, less diet sodas, in my daily life.  So I’m keepin all that, but it’ll be nice not to have to count the water.

Also, it’s almost the end of 6 months for me on my BLOG…half-way through my project: EATS and FEATS, where I take a pic of everything I eat and all my workouts.  Here’s my summation, so far.  It’s kinda hard posting everything that I eat.  I have no qualms any more in popping out my camera to get my shots, or even giving myself that “WAIT, you have to get the pic first and THEN you can eat.”  I’m not shy, and I don’t embarrass easily.  But instead, it’s this:  I welcome seeing what other’s eat.. it all looks so healthy.  And although I’m eating some healthy stuff, too… it’s just hard lettin everybody see, well, the unhealthy stuff…. the complete story.  Eeeks!!  I know I’m being judged by some, not-so-much by others, and then there’s that pressure I put upon myself.   I’m trying to relax and know that although everyone has a gameplan (and they should), that everyone veers off of it and relaxes a bit, too.  Moderation.  And well, life.  Things happen and we deal.  Plans get changed.  And the most honorable intentions get side-swiped by “interruptions” in life.

The most fun part so far is showing my workouts.  February is usually the month I go out of my own gym and explore what’s going on in the rest of the city.  New classes, new instructors… can’t wait!!

————————————————————————————————————————-DAY 22

73 oz of water drank

Not feelin too good today so only 1 class today….and another long nap

————————————————————————————————————————-DAY 21

Water done

73 oz of water done before 8pm

————————————————————————————————————————-DAY 20

water report:

20 oz of water at the gym, 73 oz of water at home…   I had a BIG BiG DDP today for lunch, which kind of got me out of whack.. but I kept drinking water at all the other meals to get my H2O quota in.

————————————————————————————————————————-DAY 19

Ok… I guess I’m a certified looney… staying up to almost 1am just to drink WATER !!  But when I get my mind set to do something, I DO IT !!  It’ll be my downfall, I’m sure.

Ya’ll have a good night, and I’ll see ya in the morning… right after Zumba !!!!

OMG.. I just realized that I forgot about the 20 oz of water earlier =?  rrrrrrrrrrrr

93 oz of water at home, 32oz of water at the gym, for 3 classes

————————————————————————————————————————-

Hahaha…. PERFECT TIMING !!  ——Kelley

littlewaternymph:

10 REASONS WHY WATER IS AWESOME

  1. Water is an essential component of the human body. The human body is made up of about 43% to 75% of water - depending on age, body fat, etc [if fat is taken out of consideration, the nominal water content is about 72% of body mass - according to this source]. You could probably survive for 4 to 8 weeks without food (source), but it is estimated that lack of water could cause death in about 10 days, at room temperature (source).
  2. Water acts as a nourishing agent. Water circulates through the blood and helps transport nutrients and oxygen towards organs and cells. It acts as a solvent for many nutrients and essential salts and makes them available for absorption by the body.
  3. Water is a cleansing agent. It also serves as a medium to carry metabolic wastes away from the body - this is accomplished in the form of urine and sweat. Think of it as a detoxifying agent. This is one of the most important functions of water in our body (although not very highly appreciated often in daily life).
  4. Water helps reduce the risk of kidney stones. The kidneys filter out waste products from the blood and channel them out of the body through the process of urine formation. Increasing concentration of certain salts in the urine increases the risk of kidney stone formation - and in most cases this risk can be reduced by drinking a lot of water and diluting the urine. It is usually recommended that adults prone to kidney stones should try to drink about 12 eight-ounce glasses of water everyday (normal adult recommendation is about 8 glasses).
  5. Water helps reduce the risk of sunstroke. Water is the single most important factor in the highly critical function of regulating your body temperature. On sunny days, we sweat (in other words - excrete water) more and the evaporation of the sweat has a cooling effect on the body. In the absence of sufficient water (when dehydration occurs) in your body, this temperature regulation breaks down and body temperature increases - and this leads to sunstroke. Severe sunstroke has the potential to damage your vital organs.
  6. Water helps lower the blood pressure. When you lose more thanoptimal levels of fluid due to various conditions (not drinking sufficient water, heavy exercise, illness, etc), the body tries to adjust for the loss of water by constricting blood vessels so that the rate of loss of water (due to sweating and respiration) is reduced - which in turn leads to higher blood pressure. Drink ample water to prevent this from happening. Of course, this is applicable when the higher blood pressure has been attributed to the lack of enough fluids in the body [don’t confuse this with special diuretic treatments for certain heart, liver, and kidney conditions - in which sometimes it is necessary to remove excess fluids from the body to lower the blood pressure].
  7. Water minimizes the risk of heart disease. This follows from the the above point - increased dehydration causes your cells and tissues to absorb water from the blood stream and thus decreases the volume of the blood flow (probably that’s why constriction of blood vessels and the subsequent increase in blood pressure occurs - read #6). Increased blood pressure is a sign of a heart that’s working harder than it should - it tries to pump more blood to excretory organs to compensate for the reduced volume. This could probably worsen a heart related ailment. Sufficient water intake will ensure that this does not happen.
  8. Water keeps your skin in good condition. In the process of sweating, it also removes impurities in the skin and cleanses it - leaving you with a healthy and younger looking skin. Dehydrated skin cells can cause your skin to appear wrinkled or sagging.
  9. Water does not contain calories. Feel free to replace those sugary soft drinks with water; water does not contain any calories - so unlike the soft drinks it’s not going to increase your weight. Some studies have pointed towards how increased water consumption can in fact cause weight loss. Americans consume about 13 billion gallons of calorific drinks every year. You can imagine the net effect that can be achieved by replacing all that with water. Make it a habit - whenever you go to a fast food joint or a restaurant, ask for water instead of a soda.
  10. Water is free!

In conclusion, DRINK MORE WATER!

——————————————————————————————————————DAY 18

guess what I’m doing….

I’m home after the movie and realized I hadn’t drank but 20oz of water (besides at the gym).. so I’m slowly trying to INHALE this freakin water before I go to bed.  Cruisin thru the dash to keep myself entertained !!  Love reading ya’lls posts ♥

..and what’s the best way to get to know my new followers?  follow THEM !!  Checking my newbies out !!

I’m thinkin I may be up all night makin potty trips since I waited so LATE =/  … suffering the consequences of my actions !!

——————————————————————————————————————DAY 17

Water complete … 73 oz at home, 20 oz at the gym for 2 classes

——————————————————————————————————————DAY 16

Thanks for your input, David !!

.. my question.. don’t know if you’ve been following my water experiment of not, but I added a bit of water (less most sodas and unsweet tea) to my diet beginning in January… and what happened (you can take a look at my last chart for today’s Wednesday Weigh-in to see this) is that my weight stayed stable for a few days, and then it shot up 5.1 lbs, which I kept on for almost 12 days before going back to my original weight. There’s no reason I should’ve been retaining water… so my thought is that I’ve been dehydrated, well, I guess for a very long time and didn’t know it. Just wanted to know your thoughts. Exercise stayed the same, same intensities, same pushes on weights as always, diet the same except for the addition of water at HOME—-but diet sodas and unsweet tea with artificial sweeteners ALMOST eliminated .. maybe 1 a day.

 kelleykelleymoore Hey Kelley,

Yes, I did notice you have added more water to your diet, which is great!

I would bet that your theory of being slightly dehydrated is correct. However, subtle changes in diet can create a large difference in our physical changes. So even if your quantities for something that could impact weight quickly, say carbohydrate and sodium intake, shifted slightly, it could have affected it.

I also wonder if maybe something happened in which your body went through some type of healing process. Sometimes an injury of some sort, even if it’s nothing major, creates water retention. Just an idea since we’re not really sure what’s going on.

Other than that, again, your body very well could have simply been in need of a higher water concentration.

Hope this helped. Keep up the awesome work!

Ask davidlamb a question
kelleykelleymoore  Ya know, I think I did have an injury, although very small… twisted a knee in body step, but light… just took it easy for the next few days…. also had a shoulder injury from slipping in sweat on pushups in an attack class.. that one really hurt.  Hmmm, definite possiblity.  Thanks for your input, David !! —————————————————————————————————————-Water finished !!

83 oz of water drank at home… 28 oz at the gym for 2 classes and 1 short weight lifting session … whooHOO !!

—————————————————————————————————————-DAY 15

My quota of water … down the hatch !!

Drank 38oz of water at the gym (2 classes) .. and 73 oz of water at home... finished before 8:30pm.. yay !!  maybe I can get some sleep again tonight.  Here’s a tip that I found out the hard way… finish your water 2 hours before you go to bed, at least !!

Can see that my skin is improving.. springs back better.  At age 45, I thought I was just getting crows feet and wrinkly, but my skin is springing back when I pinch it now!!  Who’da thunk it?  I’m trying hard to enjoy the taste of water.  I’m pretty sure that I’ve convinced myself that this extra water intake is something that I need… for my skin, for my Raynaud’s, for my health in general.  I usually crave a Diet Dr. Pepper in the morning before I go to the gym… and I”m still giving in to it at this time.  But each day, I’m telling myself, I don’t have to drink the whole can right now… just get what you really want.  And each day I drink less and less.  The pop that I’ve always enjoyed from sodas is feeling more like a sting to my throat.  Today I drank my unsweet tea for lunch, and although it wasn’t bad, I’m almost at the point where I think I’d rather have water.  Don’t want to rush the transition, though.  I’m trying not to pressure myself.  But 30 days of doing anything builds habits… and this habit of drinking more water—less sodas, I think I’d like to keep.  I don’t want to HAVE to measure water, but for now, I need to understand what this much water FEELS like, so later I can gauge it better.

——————————————————————————————————————DAY 14

hmmm.. the water is helping my Raynaud’s….

Articles on Raynaud’s:

Me and my husband noticed that while we were at OSU in the freezing cold temps, I didn’t have an episode of Raynaud’s… a constriction in my extremities.. my fingers to be exact.. which leaves the tips of my fingers whitish yellow and bloodless.  Indoors, air conditioning usually gets me, so I fully expected the tours of campus out in the cold cold air to really get me, but it didn’t.  YAY to WATER !!  and less caffeine, too bc I’m drinking so much water !!

——————————————————————————————————————DAY 13

Water done … 89 oz

——————————————————————————————————————DAY 12

73 oz of water … accomplished!!!  After such a hard day, food-wise, I was determined to get this water down.  It came late, but it came.

——————————————————————————————————————DAY 11

Right there is where I’m at … just 40 MORE ounces to go … I WILL at least accomplish this…..maybe

———————————————————————————————-

DAY 11

And NO I haven’t drank all my water.

Just pulled in my driveway.  Home.  Thank goodness.

———————————————————————————————-

DAY 10

Wow… I look sleepy.. and that’s because I am.  We have to get up at 4:30 AM to make it to the airport in time….  32 oz of water drank at the gym, for 3 classes… 73 oz drank at home… I’ve just guzzled down the last of it.  Gnight all !!  Half a pound lost this morning at weigh-in.

————————————————————————————————

DAY 9

Lost 1/2 lb this morning .. YAY !!! I AM seeing a trend =)

Hopefully this will continue.  You have no idea how hard it is for me to NOT pull out all my stops and PUSH my weight back down with my diet and workouts !!  I KNOW how to do it, and everything in my body said JUST DO IT !!  But I’ve restrained myself, and let the water do to my body what it’s gonna do.  Another week to see what all is gonna happen, and then I’d LOVE to hear from you guys on what ya think happened.. whether you agree with me or not.  Did ya hear that DavidLamb? and all my other fitness friends from Tumblr and Tyler??

OH… and although I’m having to push more body weight up, I’m getting stronger with my pushups.. already can do a one arm plank, and almost there on the one-armed pushup… yippee !!  ..so I’m getting STRONGER =)

..and thanks to Tiffany, my quads were quivering today !!

————————————————————————————————

DAY 9

80 oz of water drank throughout the day…. plus 20 oz of water at the gym, 2 classes…. this water thing is getting easier and easier, and I’m missing my other drinks less and less.  It’s saving me money at restaurants — woohoo !!  and although I’ve given myself free access to other drinks now (to combat the “CRAVING” effect,  I just know that I HAVE to get the water in, so if I drink too much of the other, I’m never gonna be able to drink my quota of water.  I lost 1.3 lbs this morning at my informal weigh-in… YAY !!  We’ll see what tomorrow brings.

————————————————————————————————

DAY 8

Weight went back down 1.3 lbs .. yay!!

Hope this is the beginning of a trend and not just for the day.

And I lose weight after I’ve just eaten the pizza, the frosty, the stromboli, the chocolate chip pizza, the ChickFilA and the big breakfast from the hotel?  Plus.. all that WATER !!  I’m excited to know what’s gonna happen tomorrow !!

————————————————————————————————

DAY 7

Water Report …. drank 110 oz of water today …. we’ve been driving and visiting Oklahoma State University’s campus today so no workout … tomorrow we have walking tours all day and its 12 degrees now with a projected temperature of 5 degrees for tomorrow …. bbrrrrr. But yay, I get to use my cardio trainer app to track our walk .. fun fun!!

————————————————————————————————

DAY 6

So where is all that weight going??

Gained over 5 lbs this week on my first week of my water experiment .. my measurements aren’t showing the increase that would be natural for that kind of increase in weight, nor did my body fat percentage shoot up like I would think it would. I am increasing muscle but I’ve never seen it jump up that quickly. So I have to assume that I was lacking water that my body needed … I certainly feel more plump all over. I had a friend who asked if my clothes were fitting tighter and I told her yes.. but I’m wondering if that’s psychological on my part bc I’m feeling unusually plump. My opinion is that my face has filled out…the veins in my hands are showing less… good gosh maybe I WAS dehydrated and didn’t know it…that’s a hard one for me to choke down …. I would never have thought it … and ok, given this info, if correct, I’m going to have to settle in my mind that this is gonna be my new weight … or drop more weight. For now, I’m just gonna keep going on as normal…and with my next 2 experiments (dropping the sweets and sweet substitutes out of my diet & the final fat shred) hopefully all will fall in place and I’ll have a more fit me =)

————————————————————————————————

DAY 5

Finished … its getting easier to drink all this water… a cup at a time. Had 42 oz at the gym with 3 classes, and my 73 oz at home. I wasn’t tempted today with other drinks … I just didn’t want anything else. Day 5 and this morning I found that I’ve gained another pound with all this water, so I used my fat analyzer to see what’s going on with my fat percentage … no change there thank goodness although my bmi went up, of course, bc my weight went up. I’ll post a pic of that just to have a record. I haven’t noticed any other changes except that I’m not sweating when I work out quite as much … and my quads and hip flexors are aching bc of some extra work I’m doing with lunges and squats… so I think I’m growing those muscles. Still fearful of an upward trend enough that I’m freaking out a little … any theories on why this is happening would be welcome. Tomorrow morning I’m going to do a full weigh in, like it was a Wednesday with measurements included. I’m trying hard not to adjust my diet to compensate for the weight gain… bc that ruins the validity of my experiment. I’m just gonna keep on as normal … but drinking my water. Tuesday and Wednesday will be a little different, however, bc we’re taking my daughter to visit a campus where she got a huge scholarship. Three on the table so far!!! Woohoo!!

————————————————————————————————

DAY 4

So I’m whining about water … and my oldest son, says… Mom, why don’t ya pour it in a glass and then it won’t seem like so much to drink … so I did.  Drinking a glass of it at a time, rather than a sip here and a sip there was MUCH MUCH better.  I’m still measuring my water in my container, but I’m just keeping it in the fridge to keep it cold and pouring it in a glass throughout the day.  I still got my 73 oz in, and I’m about to have something else =) besides water.

No workout at the gym today… it’s my DAY OF REST… woohoo !! and time for my muscles to repair, for me to recoop… and we’ll see about tomorrow.  Snow is still on the ground, so probably a snow day, but as of yet, no announcement.  Dunno if the gym will be open or not, but if it’s closed, I’ll have to be creative and workout another way.

As for my WATER REPORT: it’s Day 4 and I’m seeing a GIANT leap in my weight, but not in the right direction !!  Weighed in this morning at 151+… that’s up 3 lbs from yesterday.  Eeeks !! My skin is looking a little better… fuller in the face.  I dunno if I’m retaining water, if my weigh-in just happened while I was full of all this water, or what, but I’m sticking with it.  I had someone suggest that maybe I wasn’t getting enough hydration previously and now I finally am.  But I’m not so sure.  Although, I typically only drink water at the gym, I drink lots of drink at home… albeit unsweet tea and Diet Dr. Pepper.. but drink nevertheless.  I can say this for sure:  SOMETHING is happening.  I’m a little excited to see what lies in the future, a little fearful that my weight is gonna continue in this upward trend, and wondering how this is gonna affect my workouts.  I’ve noticed that usually I want a snack before bed, and more snacks throughout the day, i.e. in between meals.  This water is making me feel full … I’m just not hungry for snacks.  That sounds like a good thing, but I really want to keep my metabolism going by eating at least every 3 hours.  Hmmm… I think I’ll just keep trudging on, and we’ll see.  Me <— the human guinea pig !!

————————————————————————————————

DAY 4

Done …. slosh, slosh … 73 oz … 10 oz at the gym, 2 classes ….weight was up almost 1lb this morning … 148.6 … how long did I say I’d do this??

————————————————————————————————

DAY 3

All gone !!!!   Geez, that was cRaZY !!!  I’ve never had so much unwillingness to drink water.  I WANT MY DIET DR. PEPPER !!!!!!

… ok, sorry.. havin a moment.  Ok, today I had 38 oz of water at the gym, with 2 classes.  73 oz today, finishing at this very moment.   Weighed in this morning at exactly the same weight… which is weird for 3 days in a row.  I’ve never been so consistent on my weight.  ok, gotta go—— runnin outside to get me a Diet Dr. Pepper =)

————————————————————————————————

DAY 3

Cardio Trainer says I’ve burned 7000 calories so far this week.. wooHOO !!

… and I’m still drinking WATER !!  .. this shouldn’t be this hard.  I think I may be over-saturating myself (no, not really .. I’m just a rebel when it comes to change) And so some of you have brought it to my attention and asked why I’m giving up my other drinks ??  My thinking was that by isolating my drinks to water, if there were any changes, it would be more conclusive that the water was the cause of the changes.  But really, now that I think about it, I’m really just trying to get in a minimum of 73 oz of water/day, and then anything else… so as long as I reach the minimum level of water by the end of the day, then I can have other drinks throughout the day.  Tada….. I can talk myself into anything, huh?

————————————————————————————————

DAY 2

73 oz of water drank… plus 28 oz at the gym for 2 classes.  Still had a headache today, I think from the lack of caffeine in the Diet Dr. Peppers, but it went away around dinner time… yay !!  I had a long drive today.. showed my house to 3 families, and drove back.. just got home at midnight.  I planned a Diet Dr. Pepper to drink on the way home.. I even had it in the car.. but I needed to finish drinking the water first.  By the time I finished the water, I wasn’t thirsty anymore.  Dunno if I’ll ever get a Diet Dr. Pepper again this month :/  And yes, I had to get up in the night a bunch of times last night, rrrrrr, when I usually don’t have to.. we’ll see about tonight.

Oh, and I weighed this morning just to see if there was any change… I weighed exactly the same.

————————————————————————————————

DAY 2

…my headache is beginning to go away ..

Drinking lots of water

————————————————————————————————

DAY 1 of the WATER REPORT

1/5/11  73 oz of water consumed at home/~40oz water at the gym, 3 classes

Report:  I feel SLOSHY, have a huge headache, (think it’s because of no caffeine from the Diet Dr. Pepper rather than the consumption of more water), and see no other changes—- probably a little too soon.  I’d still like a Diet Dr. Pepper, but I have no room for it in my tummy right now.  I’ll probably be up all night for potty breaks… we’ll see.

————————————————————————————————

DAY 1

I’m suffering from a dreadful “NO CAFFEINE” headache

Pushing through to the other side … I want a Diet Dr. Pepper SO BAD !!

————————————————————————————————

DAY 1

Here goes EXPERIMENT #1 (Wed, Jan 5 - Wed, Feb 2)

I mentioned earlier in December that beginning in the new year, I’d be trying 3 different experiments in the coming few months, the first which is upon us NOW, and is described below.  The second has to do with striking sugar-SWEETS from my diet for a month (which you can see from my food pics is a HUGE deal to me !!).  And the third, you’ll see a huge effort to eat “clean” and shred fat, timing this one to end right before swimsuit season =)  Wanna do them with ME?  I’d love some company !!

EXPERIMENT #1 — WATER CONSUMPTION

During this time period, I’m going to make sure I drink at least 73 oz (2.2 liters) of water which the site below recommends.  Unfortunately the maximum time for estimated workout that they offered was 90 minutes, and I know I’ll be working out 120 - 180 minutes tomorrow and most days, but what I want my experiment to focus on is water consumed while I’m NOT at the gym.  On ordinary days, I drink 20 -40 oz or water at the gym, as I’m exercising.  And because I feel it’s very important to listen to my body during exercise, I’m going to consume whatever I feel my body needs during that time.  But when I get home from the gym, water is usually NOT my choice of drink.  I instead drink unsweet Lipton tea or Diet Dr. Pepper (my fav), ordinarily.  For this experiment, I’m going to drink (at home and throughout the day) the water recommended BEFORE I’ll allow myself to have other drinks, with a pic at the end of the day, to show for it.  Keeping all else the same (i.e. exercise schedule, eating patterns, etc.) we’ll see if and how it affects my weight, mood, skin, energy level, and whatever else might show itself.  Havin FUN.  ——KELLEY

I’m using the hydration calculator found on their site, using “0” as the variable for how much estimated exercise I’ll be doing, since my water at the gym will not be included in my experiment. Remember, I’m drinking 73 oz water daily (while I’m at 146 lbs — this may change), not including the extra water that I’ll be consuming at the gym during exercise.

How Much Water You Need to Drink Today Hydration Calculator

A person who is 146 pounds
